Construction update 1 May 2026: A message from Principal Tony Barron
There is great excitement at Star of the Sea as we continue to build the final stages of our school.
The final stages of construction will enhance the learning and teaching experience for students and staff by delivering flexible, contemporary spaces that support collaboration, creativity and future‑focused learning.
It also completes Stage 3 of a five-stage master plan which will allow us to welcome a full cohort of 550 – 580 students in the future.
We understand that as construction progresses, there is an ongoing impact on our school and local community. We sincerely thank you for your patience and cooperation, as we continue to work on ways to minimise impact.
Currently we are working on upgrading our carpark and access to the school. Once complete, by approximately July, the carpark will triple in size from 25 to 75 spaces. We are also changing the way the carpark operates to allow 30-40 cars to fit internally in the future ‘drop and go zone’.
Throughout the year we will continue to work with City of Gold Coast to plan for access to site, while allowing local residents a safe passage through their community. We have also been in close contact with Queensland Police Service to ensure people are acting in ways that keep our entire community safe.
Our next steps will be to engage with a traffic management company to assess the current situation. I will communicate the results of this in the coming weeks.
I welcome any feedback from our school or wider community at any time.
We are all here to work together and to ensure the safety of our community.
